PRT faces funding crisis; Service cuts and fare increases loom

“Twenty percent of transit service has already been cut in Allegheny County in the last few years; for many riders, service is already inadequate. Another deep round of service cuts and fare increases would be catastrophic. That’s why thousands of transit riders and workers across the state in our coalition Transit for All PA have been organizing for the dedicated state transit funding to restore the quality of service that we deserve, not just to maintain an inadequate status quo. We are organizing to restore service statewide to 2019 levels, with an additional 10% for non- Pittsburgh and Philadelphia regions, and will be calling on legislators to pass the specific fees needed to meet this goal.”

The PRT board will present proposed changes in a board meeting on Thursday.

Riders will have an opportunity to provide feedback once changes are approved by the board.”
