“Preventing fraud in childcare, Medicaid
Committee chair Sen. Michele Brooks (R-Mercer) sponsored two other bills geared more toward fraud prevention in other social services programs. The first, Senate Bill 1372, reimplements an annual report Brooks said the state Department of Human Services discontinued in 2022.
The report must include inspections, investigations, enforcement actions and payment integrity activities for childcare centers, group home and family-based centers as well as residential and day treatment facilities.
“This bill restores reporting that had previously been provided by the department and adds payment integrity information so policymakers and the public can better understand how the system is functioning,” Brooks added. “
