New Medicare cards sent to 1.3 million beneficiaries due to fraud case

“CMS often sends new cards without prior notice, but an unusual number of people have reported receiving them recently. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging posted a notice on its Facebook page, urging recipients not to discard the new cards

CMS confirmed to News 8 that the new cards are related to a fraud case in which more than 300 individuals across all 50 states were charged with committing health care fraud through Medicare and Medicaid.

Now, when you get a new Medicare card, it is a paper card.

Some scams have been reported around the country, in which people are receiving plastic cards and are instructed to call a number to activate the card.”
