“The Republican Majority on the House Energy & Commerce Committee, the Committee that oversees Medicaid, have announced an upcoming hearing on Tuesday, March 17th at 2 PM in the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
This hearing targets federal Medicaid dollars for home and community-based services (HCBS) across the country in order to take away the services that people with disabilities and older adults rely on and that family caregiver and direct care workers provide to live, age, and work with dignity.
Advocates for aging and disability care are working with our legislative champions to fill the hearing room with advocates and Medicaid recipients, including Medicaid HCBS, the people with disabilities and older adults who receive the services, and the family caregivers and direct care workers who provide them. We are filling the room to oppose the actions by CMS to cut funding for Medicaid HCBS using service providers, family caregivers, and people who need care as scapegoats.”
