AAPD Disability Advocacy Day Registration

“At a time when the rights of disabled people and other marginalized communities are under attack, we know that the stories, strength, and voices of people with disabilities are critical.
Register below for our 2nd Annual AAPD Disability Power on the Hill in Washington, DC, which will take place over the week of September 7-11, 2025.

AAPD’s Disability Power on the Hill will focus on educating policymakers to improve economic independence, healthcare access, and the rights of disabled people. It will provide an opportunity for disabled activists to meet with their Representatives and Senators and their staff and demonstrate our community’s support for policies that will improve the lives of disabled Americans. AAPD will be hosting a training on conducting these meetings, providing opportunities to learn more about Congress and policy participation and to engage with other advocates. The training will be virtual, so participants arriving late can join remotely that day. We will also be hosting a related virtual event later in the year.

For folks who join us from across the country, AAPD will cover your flights, hotels, and meals for this event if you accept our invitation. AAPD will also cover these expenses for a personal care attendant or companion accompanying you to Washington for accessibility support. We will reimburse for gas and/or transportation to the Hill for local advocates in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Last year, advocates traveled a combined number of 62,422 miles, with the farthest distance being from the state of Alaska.

If you are interested in joining AAPD in DC to support policies that will improve the lives of our community, register for AAPD’s Disability Advocacy Day here by Monday August 4, 2025.  Once you fill out the information below you will automatically be registered for the event on a first come first serve basis, until all the spots are filled up.

We hope we’ll see you in DC in September!
